With improved battery technology, electric bicycle usage has skyrocketed especially in Asia where #ebikes sales have doubled in recent years. Europe and North America have joined the boom and women appear to be leading the charge. In Holland, electric bikes are outselling regular bicycles.
Women were quick to adopt bicycles as a form of recreation in the late 19th century, when bikes first made an appearance. Women have enthusiastically moved up a notch by turning to ebikes. And as befits our modern age, the e-bike’s versatility now includes work, commuting, errand running and transporting children in addition to recreational use.
Due to recent increases in local bicycling infrastructure, the Twin Cities has one of the nation’s highest rates of women bicyclists, between 37-45%.
Commuting, especially by women who want to get to work without getting sweaty have adopted electric bikes. Baby boomers make up a large part of sales because they
are retired and love riding. Improved batteries and a mature population have boosted sales.

Electric bikes continue to be the highest selling electric vehicle on the planet, and are set to account for $24.3 billion worth of annual sales by 2025.
