My mother, Dr Ushalakshmi, a practicing Obstetrician & Gynaecologist from Hyderabad, the capital city of Andhra Pradesh in Southern India, was diagnosed with early b****t cancer in 2002.
Having obtained subspecialty training in B****t Surgery at World renowned Centres of excellence in United Kingdom, I returned to Hyderabad in 2007 and established a free standing, purpose built Centre for B****t Diseases at krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS). At about the same time, in Sept. 2007, my mother, a b****t cancer survivor and I established Ushalakshmi B****t Cancer Foundation. The Foundation is named after my mother to honour her struggle and applaud her strength in her fight against b****t cancer
The Foundation, over the past two and half years, has been working with a missionary zeal in empowering women about ‘b****t awareness’ and emphasizing the importance of early detection of b****t cancer. The Foundation has also funded FREE B****t Cancer Screening to the underprivileged women living in and around Hyderabad
The B****t Centre at KIMS (the first of its kind in India) and Ushalakshmi B****t Cancer Foundation have well and truly set a benchmark in the delivery of b****t healthcare in India.
