The sixty-fourth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) held significant importance this year, as it marked the 25 year anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, arguably the most progressive blueprint ever for advancing women’s rights. Global G.L.O.W. participants from Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Kenya, Rwanda, Haiti, Afghanistan and the United States were set to present on one of the Beijing Declaration and Platform’s Critical Areas of Concern most impacting their local communities, and share ideas for implementing change in achieving gender equality.
Unfortunately, Coronavirus concerns forced this year’s CSW to be significantly scaled back, and the girls were no longer able to travel to New York to present.
Regardless of the platform, Global G.L.O.W. is committed to giving these girls the opportunity to raise their voices and fight for a world that is free of violence, and where equality prevails.
